Mathematics education in Romania has faced significant challenges, with national PISA scores lagging behind other European countries. Recognizing the need for change, Aspire Teachers, an organization dedicated to professionalizing teaching practices, has been working to help math educators make the subject more engaging and relevant to real life.

Since 2015, Aspire Teachers has offered professional development programs, focusing on gymnasium-level math teachers. Initially, they launched an online-only course that attracted over 1,200 teachers.
However, the completion rate was just 15%, with only 200 teachers finishing the program and demonstrating the ability to implement the course material in their classrooms. The organization realized they needed a more interactive and supportive platform to boost engagement and course completion.
The Challenge: Keeping Teachers Engaged in Online Learning
Aspire Teachers started with ambitious goals—to reach a large number of teachers through online courses and improve their teaching methodology. However, the online format lacked engagement, leading to low completion rates.

“We started with an online course, reaching more than 1,200 teachers. But only 200 completed it and demonstrated they could apply what they learned in their classrooms” explained Anca Gaidos, Project Manager at Aspire Teachers.
The challenge wasn’t just accessibility—it was engagement. The previous platform allowed teachers to passively consume content, but it lacked the interactivity needed to keep them motivated.
“We needed something that not only delivered content but also kept teachers motivated and actively involved” Anca shared. The organization realized that an effective learning experience required collaboration, real-world application, and consistent support.
Discovering Teachfloor: A More Engaging Approach
After evaluating different platforms, Aspire Teachers switched to Teachfloor and restructured their program into a hybrid learning model with a smaller number of participants, chosen based on their demonstrated interest and motivation in the learning program This changes, combined with Teachfloor’s interactive features, significantly improved engagement.
“Now, the course is not just a collection of videos and quizzes. We have live webinars, in-person meetings, and an online platform that supports everything in between..” Anca explained.
Teachfloor provided a structured yet flexible way to support teachers throughout the learning process. Features like peer review, assignment tracking, and discussion forums created a collaborative experience, where teachers were no longer isolated learners but part of an active learning community.
“Teachfloor helps us track engagement, provide personalized feedback, and create an interactive learning environment...” Anca said. This shift in approach empowered educators to apply their learning in real time while staying accountable to their peers and mentors.
A Dramatic Increase in Course Completion
The impact of switching to Teachfloor has been remarkable.
“Our completion rate went from 15% to over 85%” said Anca. “This is a huge improvement. The combination of Teachfloor’s flexibility, peer review features, and our new hybrid model made a real difference.”
With Teachfloor, Aspire Teachers could integrate assignments, discussions, and peer feedback into their courses. Teachers weren’t just consuming information—they were actively engaging with it, applying concepts in practice, and receiving continuous support.
“We can see how they are progressing, offer targeted support, and adjust based on their needs” Anca explained. “The platform is not just a tool—it’s an essential part of how we train teachers.”
Seamless Onboarding and Strong Support
Beyond the features, Teachfloor stood out for its ease of use and support. Aspire Teachers had previously used a platform that required programming knowledge to customize content.
“With our old platform, I had to use HTML just to format content. Teachfloor made everything intuitive, allowing us to set up and run courses without any hassle" Anca noted.
The transition to Teachfloor was smooth, thanks to the platform’s straightforward design and responsive support team.
“Whenever we had issues, the Teachfloor team responded quickly—even on weekends. They genuinely care about their customers and work hard to solve problems” said Anca.
This level of support made a lasting impression, reinforcing Teachfloor as more than just a software provider, but a true partner in their mission.
The Future: Expanding Collaboration and Engagement
Teachfloor is honored to support an organization with such a strong mission. Aspire Teachers has transformed how they support math educators, creating a more engaging, interactive, and effective learning environment. Looking ahead, they aim to expand their approach by leveraging small group collaboration and project-based learning within the platform.
“I would like to help teachers work in small groups and on micro-projects. We already use Teachfloor for this, and I think we will explore it even more” Anca shared.
By continuing to innovate, Aspire Teachers ensures that more educators can benefit from a dynamic and impactful learning experience.
